Last week, Google introduced Google + pages for businesses to the delight of many business owners looking for new ways to connect with costumers on Google’s platform. Not only that, but Google came back that same week and introduced Social Extensions in Adwords. Just in the same way that you can currently add location, phone, product, and sitelink extensions to your ads, you can now add a link to your Google + page. Google will then take all of your +1s (from your site +1 buttons, Google + pages, ads, and search results) and add them together to give you one consolidated number. You can then leverage all of your consolidated +1s to influence and motivate people to contact your business. Google noted:
“We believe that this has the potential to improve your overall ad performance. In fact, 71% of shoppers say that recommendations from friends and family impact their purchasing decisions.* These additional recommendations may result in more conversions and deeper engagement with your business overall.”
Clearly, Google is setting things up to put a good deal of weight to +1s, so if you haven’t already jumped on the train…hop on! You can learn more about Google + here.
