CloudSixteen, Inc. (Pinnacle Positions’ parent company) took some time last Friday to volunteer with the Austin Special Olympics. If you’ve never had the opportunity to volunteer for your local Special Olympics group, we highly recommend it. Everyone had a great time, despite the hot temperatures. Yes, it’s still in the upper 90s here in Texas.
The day’s events took place at Zaragoza Park in Austin. We arrived to find the field set up for a huge Bocce Ball tournament. The event coordinator walked us through the basic rules of Bocce Ball and assigned us all roles. She mentioned that all of the competitors had been practicing for weeks and were pretty excited to get out and play. She wasn’t kidding! It was fantastic to see how much fun everyone was having.
Participants ranged from small kids to older adults, but the level of fun seemed the same for everyone. Ribbons and medals were awarded to all of the competitors at the end of the event. The Special Olympics is a great organization if you’re looking for volunteer opportunities in your area. You can learn more at their site – http://www.specialolympics.org/
